With so much crazy weather which has persisted for the past couple of weeks, much of my gardening has for now, been put on hold. However, as luck would have it the rain managed to stop long enough for us to set-up a new garden bed which I am using solely for flowers!
To get things started, I had ordered a mixed selection of seedlings ‘online’ which for the most part were made up of Carnations ‘Charbaud finest mix, Poppies ‘Shirley Double mix, Snapdragons ‘Magic carpet, Brachycome ‘Mixed splendour’ ,Nigella ‘Persian jewels mix’ (aka”love in a mist”), Hollyhock ‘Chaters Double mix’, and Aquilegia ‘Mckanna Giants Mix. I found buying my seeds online far outways that of purchasing from any of the local stores with prices much more affordable…many were as cheap as $1.00 a packet, and they even offer FREE postage for orders over $10.00.
I’d already planted my vegies as many of my readers would remember from previous post (https://deliberatelydebbie.wordpress.com/2015/03/14/hello-autumn/ ) and more recently, I added a few Freesia bulbs, especially in memory of my mother. For now they remain amongst the peas and capsicums and appear to be managing quite well so fingers crossed!
Once these babies are ready to be moved, they will (hopefully) settle in to their new home to create a cottage-garden effect!
As you can see from the photos (below) both capsicum and peas are absolutely thriving on all the rain!
The only new addition in this bed were some Onion ‘Creamgold’ seeds
