It just slipped through my fingers
I allowed it to-
My ears heard words
Important information
Yet, it slipped through my fingers
I wasn’t really listening
There was something missing!
Reality and logic took a sudden leave of absence
A part of me had shut down
It just slipped through my fingers
A strange shift in appearances
All the while, a sense of fear hung in the air
I had chosen to ignore
Time was the enemy
Almost sneering whilst watching us
Watching, while it all just slipped away
Watching, while it all just slipped through my fingers
I will never forget
But will always regret
What I should have hung on to
